Embarking on a journey of therapy can be a transformative and empowering experience. At Sundew Therapy and Wellness, we understand the importance of transparency and ensuring that our clients have a clear understanding of the therapy process from start to finish.

In this comprehensive guide, we will walk you through what to expect at each stage of the therapeutic journey, from the initial phone consultation to the termination of therapy. Whether you are new to therapy or have previous experience, this article aims to provide valuable insights to support your growth and well-being.

1. THE INITIAL PHONE CONSULTATION (15 MINUTES)

The therapeutic journey begins with the initial phone consultation. This short conversation is an opportunity for you to briefly discuss your concerns and goals with one of our team members. During this call, we will gain a better understanding of your needs and determine how our services can best support you. We will also address any questions or concerns you may have about therapy or our practice.

We value and respect individuality, embracing diversity in all its forms.

2. THE INTAKE PROCESS (55 MINUTES)

Once you have decided to proceed with therapy, we will schedule an intake session. The intake session typically lasts about 55 minutes and serves as a more in-depth exploration of your background, history, and current challenges. We may ask questions about your personal and family history, previous therapy experiences, and any relevant medical or mental health information. This thorough assessment helps us tailor our approach to meet your unique needs.

The intake session is also when we can address any specific concerns you have. At Sundew Therapy and Wellness, we have expertise in providing specialized support for LGBTQIA+ individuals and trauma survivors. We recognize the unique challenges faced by these populations and are committed to offering a safe and inclusive space for healing and growth. • Processing grief and loss
  • Managing illnesses and phobias

During therapy sessions, you will have the opportunity to explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in a supportive and non-judgmental space. Your therapist will help you gain insights into patterns and belief systems that may be influencing your emotional well-being and behavior. Together, you will work towards fostering healthier coping strategies and cultivating a deeper understanding of yourself.

3. COLLABORATIVE TREATMENT PLANNING

Following the intake process, your therapist will work with you to develop a personalized treatment plan. This plan will outline the specific goals and objectives of your therapy journey and the techniques and approaches that will be used to address your concerns. We believe in the power of collaboration, and your input and feedback are essential in shaping your treatment plan.

4. ONGOING THERAPY SESSIONS

As therapy progresses, you will engage in ongoing therapy sessions with your therapist. The frequency and duration of these sessions will depend on your needs and treatment goals. Therapy sessions may be weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly, and typically last between 45 to 50 minutes.

Periodically as you and your therapist feel is best, your therapist will check in with you to ensure that you feel you are on track for your goals, or to discuss if your goals have changed and need to be adapted to fit your growth. 5. TERMINATION OF THERAPY

The termination phase of therapy is a crucial and often bittersweet part of the therapeutic journey.
